Blood Cultures expands Skate Story’s soundtrack with 20 bonus tracks

Skate Story: Vol. 1 (Deluxe Edition) album artwork

    Why it matters

The deluxe edition runs 34 tracks, including remixes of “Emptylands” and “The Unarchiver” and the band’s songs as they play in the game’s cinematics. It lands two months before the first anniversary of Sam Eng’s game. John Fio’s Vol. 2 remains a separate release. Indie games rarely get a second soundtrack cycle; a deluxe edition keeps the score in release radar a year on.

    Why it matters

Toma Otowa returns with shamisen player Masato Shibata, tonkori master Oki and his band Rekpo, Ghost of Tsushima composer Ilan Eshkeri and Chad Cannon, who scored Ghost of Yōtei: Legends. At 23 tracks the companion album is longer than the base game’s score. Sony is extending a BAFTA-winning soundtrack with each expansion, keeping the score in streaming rotation well after launch.

Final Fantasy XV’s piano collection comes to vinyl for the first time

Piano Collections FINAL FANTASY XV: Moonlit Melodies vinyl

    Why it matters

The release collects ten piano arrangements of music by Yoko Shimomura on clear vinyl. Originally released on CD in 2017, Moonlit Melodies is a collector reissue rather than a new score, priced at ¥4,400 with preorders open ahead of its December 2, 2026 release in Japan. Game music’s physical-media market continues to move beyond conventional soundtrack reissues: piano arrangements, orchestral interpretations and other catalog extensions are becoming collectible objects in their own right. For FINAL FANTASY collectors, and particularly fans of Shimomura’s score, this is the first opportunity to own Moonlit Melodies on vinyl.

MR. RECORDS demo hits Steam as PS5 and Xbox Series versions are confirmed

    MR. RECORDS logo

    Why it matters

Glee-Cheese Studio and Wired Productions released a public Steam demo for MR. RECORDS on 22 September 2026, ahead of October’s Steam Next Fest, and confirmed PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions alongside the previously announced Nintendo Switch 2 and PC releases. The game splits its day in two: you run a record shop by daylight, advising customers and stocking vinyl, then play rhythm-platforming stages built out of those same records at night. It is one of the more literal attempts yet to make music retail itself the mechanic, and the expanded platform list means it arrives everywhere the rhythm audience already lives.

CrossCode Piano Collections opens vinyl preorders at $29.99, shipping Q1 2027

    CrossCode logo

    Why it matters

Materia Collective opened preorders for a CrossCode Piano Collections LP: 14 piano arrangements of Deniz Akbulut’s score across two sides, pressed on 180g black vinyl in a gatefold with art by Yoshihiko Arai, priced at $29.99. Preorders are live now; shipping is estimated for the first quarter of 2027, so buyers are reserving a record rather than receiving one. Indie game scores have become reliable vinyl catalog, and a piano-arrangement album is a telling step: it treats the compositions as repertoire worth reinterpreting, not just a soundtrack worth reissuing.

Nocturne launches on Steam with 101 tracks and boss music by the Slovak National Symphony

    Why it matters

Pracy Studios released Nocturne, a rhythm RPG, on Steam on 22 September 2026 with 101 original playable tracks and an Arcade Mode that opens all of them for replay. Every boss battle cue was recorded live by the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra, with composer João Luís scoring: an unusual commitment for a small independent team, and a reminder that live orchestral recording is now within reach of studios that would once have defaulted to samples.
